Hi!  My name is Alex Harbison, my wife is Kyndal Harbison. Traveling to new places has been ingrained in my DNA since I was a kid.  Family road trips in our minivan throughout the United States turned into studying abroad, international vacations, extended backpacking trips, and the occasional cruise.

Every year, Kyndal and I spend months saving cash for our vacation fund and countless hours planning our big trips. But one thing throughout every trip is always constant. The moment we arrive back in Little Rock, the burning question inevitably arises. Where are we going to go next?

At a young age, I believed it took a thick wallet to travel to far and distant places, but I have spent my entire adult life proving to myself that anything is possible with a little planning. Many Americans want to see the world, but far fewer actually do. There will always be a dozen reasons to stay home, but you’ll never regret experiencing something you’ve dreamt of for years.

The World Wide Web is filled with articles and influencers who get paid to travel the world in style and luxury.  This site is different.  Like many of you reading this, we both work an 8-5 job with bills to pay.  But we love going to new places, meeting unique individuals, and learning about the history, culture, and community of people whose life experiences are different from mine.

Exploring the world can be intimidating and often nerve-wracking, but there is no better time than now to experience a taste of what the earth has to offer.  We hope you find the articles on this site useful, and hope you get to experience the wonders of adventure like we have.

Kyndal and I operate The Traveling Tourists and we’d love to hear from you.  If you have questions or comments, please feel free to reach us at thetravelingtourists@gmail.com.
